Our Design Challenge

Not long ago this country estate was run down and the gardens had been neglected for many years.   The mansion was to be restored to its previous glory and the gardens needed to reflect elegance, and support the grandeur of the estate.

Our Solution

We worked with the client to create a classical, elegant garden which uses the surrounding scenery to enhance the beauty of this garden and property.

This c. 1835 home is located in Tasmania just outside Richmond, one of the first places built in the area lying in the Coal River Valley. Now the home of “Pooley Wines,” the property has been through some significant changes with care and attention of the Pooley family.

Due to the scale of this project, the garden has been constructed in stages; most of the work has been carried out by the owners themselves.

The existing pool landscaping was typical of the 1970′s concrete jungle.    We updated and added class to the pool area by covering concrete and bricks with sandstone to join in with the buildings.  We also created outdoor seating and table space, and added low hedging and plantings.

The front yard gardens were overgrown and the lawn was bare.  The landscaping called for gravelled paths and paving stones where common foot traffic would require, and reclaimed the front yard as plush and easy to maintain lawn.   This design allows the front door of the mansion to invite you in from anywhere in the front yard.

The end result is simply stunning.
