Landscape Designer Brief:
Our challenge with this commercial landscape design was to create a fabulous garden at absolutely minimal cost. The area to be landscaped was an unused courtyard space in a school, and the administrators wanted an outdoor area which was inviting to employees and children.
We worked alongside school staff to design with a multi-use area where both students and teachers can relax and play outdoor.
To minimise water consumption, we installed a new water tank that stores harvest waste water from drinking fountains in the summer and rain water in the winter.
Part of the landscape design needed to include eating areas, games areas and open play areas. We used bricks as paving to ensure well-worn areas didn’t destroy the grass or create mud when it rained.
The plants are drought-tolerant and many are native to help invite local wildlife.
With the help of volunteer parents, teachers, students and some generous donations we created this functional, beautiful, garden for everyone to enjoy.
